Misael Vaz started at A Padaria Portuguesa serving at the counter. Today, 8 years later, he has made the leap from store manager to supervisor. In light of the new changes, he recalls that “there are aspects that do not change, such as (….) the sense of family.”
Misael Vaz was 18 years old when he joined the A Padaria Portuguesa team. Over time, he has evolved, received training, dedicated himself and established himself as a professional to keep in-house. He started in the Largo de Camões store, then moved to Cais do Sodré, Colombo Shopping Centre and Restauradores.
Eight years later he returned as manager to his first address, in the heart of Lisbon, where he had started serving at the counter. While he worked in that position, the young man was always one of the faces recognised by the customers who regularly visit the Largo de Camões store. “We had a strong base of proximity and interaction with regular customers,” but not just those. “In relation to tourists, I like the diversity of languages and cultures, which made me even prefer working in stores with a large tourist presence. “The role of manager was short-lived – but for the best of reasons.
His excellent performance led Misael to take on the new post of operational supervisor in June 2022. Now 26 years old, and the father of a 10-month-old baby girl, he confesses that he is satisfied with his career progression. “It’s a company that has increasingly invested in teams and training,” he says, acknowledging the challenges he has been given and proud of the path he has followed. As to what challenges him most, he says that it is managing staff “and having the notion that I can add value and productivity to the company.”
Satisfied with his career in the company, Misael looks to the future with great motivation. He is committed to contributing as much as possible so that A Padaria Portuguesa continues to be a market leader and he believes that all the recently-implemented changes were designed as ways to improve the service and the products. Misael also says that “one thing is certain, there are aspects which will never change, such as the good relationship between colleagues, the good working environment, the spirit of mutual help and cohesion, the closeness to customers, attention and a family feeling.”
