7 reasons to go to Padaria Portuguesa (besides the delicious food)

Yes, a pão de deus (brioche bun with coconut topping) is enough to get us out of bed early. A vegetarian mushroom salad, with the mushrooms produced from organic coffee grounds, is enough to get us out of the office at lunchtime. A ham and cheese brioche croissant is enough to get us off the sofa in the evening. And there’s no shortage of other good reasons to visit us.

1. The best of Lisbon an arm’s length away

Planning a visit to the Jerónimos Monastery? A walk overlooking the River Tagus? A picnic at the Graça Viewing Platform? A swim at Carcavelos beach? A little shopping on Avenida da Liberdade? A walk through the Pombaline downtown area? With over 50 stores spread throughout Greater Lisbon, there is always a tourist attraction close to us. See the location of all the stores here.

2. “A privileged position

Some people say that Portugal has sun all year round. Even during the winter months, there’s always at least one day that is calling for you to have a cup of coffee outside. Most of our stores (51) are equipped with spacious terraces, and some of them even offer breath-taking views.

3. An exclusive soundtrack

A good breakfast is always music to our ears. But the truth is that some things taste even better with a soundtrack to match. The speakers in our stores give you music from the moment the doors open to the public to the time they close, with an exclusive selection of the best tracks from the Portuguese-speaking world. If you are not in a bakery and miss our playlist, you can listen to it anytime and anywhere here.

4. Designer stores

Eating well is also about feeling good where you are. All our stores were recently renovated, which is the result of a project by architects João Pombeiro and XXXI studio. But we have two stores with exclusively-designed projects, which remain unchanged – our store in Príncipe Real, which stands out thanks to the work of the Portuguese artist Joana Astolfi, and our LAB shop – our laboratory for the creation and innovation of new products – a project by architects Fernando Sanchez Salvador and Margarida Grácio Nunes, located on Avenida da República.

5. Free Wi-Fi and energy (besides caffeine)

For those who come on business or simply for those who can’t resist sharing their breakfast on social media, all our stores have free internet access. Search for the “A Portuguesa – clientes” network and enter the password “portuguesa” to access the network. You may use the available sockets to charge your electronic equipment, depending on the size and characteristics of each store.

6. We are pet-friendly

If you have a pet, you don’t need to leave it at home in order to visit us. We are happy to welcome pets in any of our stores, either inside the store or on the terrace. We provide a bowl of water at the entrance of each bakery, so that your four-legged friend can quench their thirst.

7. Always with the oven on

A lot of people choose to eat out on weekends and bank holidays, and nobody likes to be greeted by a locked door. Apart from the fact that you can visit us from 7am on a daily basis, while on your way to work, or close to 7pm on your way home, our stores are open all year round. The exception is 25/12 and 01/01, so that we may all have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
